September 22, 2025
Manahi woke up in the early morning to the sound of bombs. She is seen in the photo below in her pajamas as she cares for a patient’s foot wound.
That day, she, another physical therapist, and a paramedic provided care to many other people from their community injured during military attacks.
September 28, 2025
The attacks continued, this time killing Efraín in Cotacachi.
October 12, 2025
The Kichwa people organized a peaceful protest in Otavalo to speak out against the racist violence they continue to suffer from.
October 14, 2025
In response to the peaceful protests, 5 thousand soldiers arrived in Otavalo on October 14th. The soldiers were armed with firearms and bombs that were shot at Kichwan citizens. More people were unrightfully detained, as shown in the videos below. Many local hospitals would not receive the patients with bullet wounds, so Kichwan healthcare professionals did the best they could to care for the wounded on site.
November, 2025
As people were afraid to leave their homes for weeks into October, the brigade continues to encounter more people who were injured in the attacks and did not receive any healthcare. As the brigade continues to receive donations, they continue to provide access to care for the injured Kichwan people, including XRays, dentral procedures, and auditory exams.
The People Injured
A doctor in the 14 de octubre brigade working to remove a bullet wound in the field.
This 22 year old man lost his leg. With a fresh amputation, he is no longer able to work in agriculture to provide for his family.
This is another man suffering from severe facial trauma do to a bomb going off.
This man was hit by bomb shrapnel, spent a week in the ICU, and then lost his eye. He is now unable to work to provide for his family.

This young woman was delivering water to protesters when she saw a soldier shooting at Kichwan people. She walked up to the soldier to ask him to stop and was immediately detained. While imprisoned for 4 days, she was physically attacked and suffered facial trauma.
